Keesargutta temple

Om Namaha Shivaya!!!

Yesterday we visited Keesargutta temple which is located about 40 km from Hyderabad and 5 km from Keesara. It is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and his consorts. It is located on a small hillock.

Entrance:

we performed Abhishakam to lord Shiva. The abhishakam costs vary from Rs. 350 to Rs. 1000. We have taken Rs. 550 token and they allowed us to gharbagudi. But we need to carry pancha and shella (Traditional AP dress is a must) to enter gharbagudi. Otherwise the abhishakam is performed out side the gharbagudi but small lingams will be provided this is for Rs. 350/-.

They allowed my husband to perform abhishakam. The women are allowed to sit in the next room and then watch the abhishakam. It was really good. it has taken around 30-45 mins.

Temple:

History: They believe that Sri Rama installed the Siva lingam here during the war while killing Ravana. He ordered Hanuman to bring a Sivlingam from Varanasi. Hanuman was late in arriving with the Siva lingam and as the auspicious hour was nearing, Sri Rama installed a Sivilingam. So, it is also called Ramalingeswara.
Hanuman returned with 101 lingams for selection from Varanasi and felt aggrieved at not having his lingam installed. Hence he threw them all over the area. Even to this day several lingams are found scattered all over the place outside the temple.

Here there is a statue of hanuman which is big and very beautiful.
